Literature Text

Listen
to the emerald thrum
fluttering in your chest.
You may not always
feel it there,
you may not always
understand what it tells you,
you may not always
be sure of what you're doing,
but
trust your heart.

Feel
the violet hum
vibrating from your lips.
You may not always
hear the words,
you may not always
be sure of what you're saying,
but
trust your voice,
because it comes
from your heart.
Dear Meghan, AKA Synesthi,

This poem has a lot of you in it, but it also admittedly has a lot of me. Isn't it crazy how one set of words can mean two different things? And yet, in this poem, the literal and the figurative arrive, I think, at precisely the same conclusion: Do not hesitate to speak, in voice or in writing, whether it's because you can't hear the words very well or because you are afraid of what you have to say.

With love,
Mel

Wonderful! I love the lyrical nature to this one.
